HGTV, You're Dissapointing Me

Am I the only one that has noticed that the people appearing on their shows are unaffected by the global economic crisis? They're still doing $40,000 kitchen renovations. I understand that they may be putting more value into their home & that that will ultimately benefit them in the future when the seller's market improves. What I don't understand is how they come up with the money to do these expensive renovations to begin with.
A few of my favorite designers on HGTV are Candice Olson, Vern Yip, Lisa LaPorta, & Carter Oosterhouse (even though I think he's actually a carpenter.) Their makeovers are spectacular, but watching these shows for too long makes me so miserable. Why? Because 1- my house is stuck in the 20th century and 2- because I have no money to fix this.
I totally wish HGTV would create more shows like Design on a Dime. $1,000 dollars for a room makeover seems more reasonable & definitely more doable for the average family in today's world.
